About the mod
Bloodlines VR turns Troika's game into a full first-person VR experience. It renders in stereo with headset tracking, your weapon follows your motion controller, and you have a whole body: look down and you'll see your chest, your arms follow your hands, and guns sit in your character's grip, with a two-handed support hold for rifles and shotguns.
Menus, inventory, the character sheet, the map, dialogue and hacking terminals all work from inside the headset with your controllers. Feeding happens in first person, and during cinematic moments you can keep looking around freely.
Keyboard and mouse work in the headset too, if you'd rather sit back.
- A first-person bodyArms follow your controllers, the body is anchored at your neck, and weapons are held in your character's hands.
- Aiming by handAim with the controller, steady it with a two-handed grip. Per-weapon calibration and a virtual stock.
- Feeding up closeThe bite, the drinking and the release all play out in first person, with free head look throughout. The view distance from the victim is adjustable.
- Menus in the headsetStereo panels for inventory, barter, the character sheet, the map and character creation. Quick menu on the left B button.

Questions
Choose a line.
Which version of Bloodlines do I need?
The PC release (Steam or GOG) with Unofficial Patch 11.5 installed. The mod checks the game's code before hooking anything, so on another version it simply won't start VR and the game runs as normal.
Which headsets and runtimes are supported?
SteamVR is the recommended path and was tested end to end on a Valve Index. Other SteamVR headsets, including Quest over Steam Link, should work but have had less testing.
Native OpenXR (-vr -openxr, needs a 32-bit runtime with Vulkan support) and Virtual Desktop / VDXR (-vr -openxr -vdxr) are experimental. -vdxr picks Virtual Desktop's runtime for this game only, without changing your system runtime.
Can I play with keyboard and mouse?
Yes. If no controller is tracked when the game starts, the mod switches to keyboard and mouse automatically, or you can pick it under Controller → Input mode in the VR settings. Head tracking stays independent of your mouse aim, and the game's Toggle Camera key (Z) switches between first and third person.
In first person, unarmed and melee attacks show the game's own target marker where you're aiming. Menus, inventory and dialogue use the mouse pointer, and you can type straight into hacking terminals.
How do I change settings?
Most settings are in the in-headset panel (hold left B and click the left stick, or press F10). Everything lives in VR\config.txt, which reloads automatically when you edit it. From the game console:
vr_settingsopens the settings panelvr_configlists settings;vr_config SnapTurning truechanges onevr_save/vr_reloadsave to or reload from the file
What isn't supported yet?
- No physical melee or gestures. Attacks, blocks and reloads use the game's own animations and buttons.
- Walking around your room doesn't move your character's collision; head clearance keeps your view out of walls.
- No physical crouching; use the crouch button.
- Left-handed mode uses simpler hand rendering instead of full-body arms.
- Exact projection for headsets with angled (canted) displays has not been tried on such a headset yet.
- Some scripted camera moments may briefly feel off. Turning on 2D cutscenes on the Comfort page can help.
The controller buttons are wrong after updating.
SteamVR may keep your old saved bindings. Open SteamVR → Settings → Controllers → Manage Controller Bindings, choose Bloodlines VR and select the default binding. When upgrading, replace all files including VR\config.txt (back it up first if you tuned it).
How do I uninstall the mod?
Delete d3d9.dll, openvr_api.dll, openxr_loader.dll and the VR folder from the game folder, then restore your backups if you had any. Or just launch without -vr to play flat.
Where can I report a problem?
Open an issue on GitHub. Please include your headset and runtime, your launch arguments, what you were doing and how to reproduce it, and vrmod_log.txt from the game folder. It's cleared on every launch, so copy it before starting the game again.
Support
If you've enjoyed Bloodlines VR or want to support my other work, including Project Embrace, you can chip in below. It's entirely optional and comes with my sincere thanks. There are no perks for Bloodlines VR, though Project Embrace offers its own supporter benefits.
